Audi Cup 2009

Went to bed late last night around 3 am something. Doing what? What else if not watched football. It is Audi Cup. I asked my friend, why we never heard about Audi Cup? And I just found out that this is the first time Audi Cup is being held - in 2009 - with 4 invitation clubs - 1. Manchester United 2. Boca Juniors 3. Bayern Munich 4. AC Milan. There were two games early this morning - Manchester United v Boca Junior at 1230am followed by Bayern Munich v AC Milan at 245am.

My housemate and I just watched the match between United and Boca. United just finished the Asia Tour where they closed the tour with huge winning of 8-2 over Greentown. Now, they are hunting for the first time of Audi Cup. The final will be Friday's morning at 245am. United will meet Bayern after United defeated Boca with 2-1 and Milan lost to Bayern.

During the match, Ferguson put the young and new player to play - maybe to test them or to give them an opportunity to prove themselves. Two goals for United were scored by Anderson and new player, Antonio Valencia.

Anderson and Antonio Valencia both scored their first goals for the Red Devils in a strong first-half performance but, as United tired in the second half, Boca reduced the arrears and had several good chances to level.

I wasn't sure the capability of Anderson to take the free kick. He used to do it for a few times, but he was not able to score or even to make it on goal. But this time, he produced a very powerful and sharp free kick into Boca's goal, through the right corner of the goal. He just did his job so well and showed a full spirit of performance. It seemed that Anderson became the play maker for the center midfield for this early morning match. He should keep that good work because later if players like Anderson and Nani can perform very well, United's fans will start to throw away Ronaldo from their minds.

While my heart is questioning what new face like Antonio Valencia can do - he really did something. Scored the second goal against Boca with undoubted powerful precise shot and it was undeniable by Boca's goalkeeper even though he tried to stop the ball. Valencia really has a great physical appearance, and that's the factor that makes him to be able to give such powerful kick. Player like him, again, United's fans will start to forget the "disobedient C.Ronaldo".
