That's Not "The Password"

I was blog-walking when I read about "12345 password" on MyAdha blog. Then I went directly to The New York Times website to read about it. The title of the article is "If Your Password Is 123456, Just Make It HackMe". And believe me, you will smile alone only by reading the title per se.

Back at the dawn of the Web, the most popular account password was “12345.”

Today, it’s one digit longer but hardly safer: “123456.”

What the h*ll people think to put "12345" or "123456" as the password unless you are really asking the hackers to hack you online account. Why it is called as password? It is a password because it is a secret word only known to the account holder to enter to his or her account. As it is a secret word, you should make it as difficult as you can to prevent other people to access to your online account.

According to a new analysis, one out of five Web users still decides to leave the digital equivalent of a key under the doormat: they choose a simple, easily guessed password like “abc123,” “iloveyou” or even “password” to protect their data.

“I guess it’s just a genetic flaw in humans,” said Amichai Shulman, the chief technology officer at Imperva, which makes software for blocking hackers. “We’ve been following the same patterns since the 1990s.”

Weird right? I don't know whether some of these people truly not aware about this or they just put that such ignorant in their hearts assuming that no one have interest on their online accounts and that make them to expect that no one will hack their online accounts. That's ridiculous man! Internet is one of the most dangerous place in the world. People are able to do anything with the existence technology that we have nowadays.

Why do so many people continue to choose easy-to-guess passwords, despite so many warnings about the risks?

Security experts suggest that we are simply overwhelmed by the sheer number of things we have to remember in this digital age.

If you have to many things to remember. Write them down or make notes about them. Don't risk yourselves.
