PETALING JAYA: PKR has cut short Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s 28-day notice to quit the party.

Party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said Zaid was no longer a party member with immediate effect.

"We received Zaid's resignation letter dated Nov 19 stating his intention to quit effective Dec 16.

"However, the political bureau decided on Sunday night to accept Zaid's resignation with immediate effect," he told a press conference Monday.

. . . "We have kindly granted his wish with immediate effect, he need not wait till Dec 16 to quit the party," he said.

Saifuddin said Zaid did not have to give a timeframe to quit the party, as it was not like he was quitting his job in a company.
