Our Squash Is Fantastic

After the great performance during Asian Games, our women's team made a nice start to their campaign in the world women’s team squash championship in Palmerston North, New Zealand, yesterday. Yesterday, they defeat Hong Kong 3-0.

A great start for Nicol and company

. . . Delia Arnold opened accounts for Malaysia in the Group D match with an 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 win over Elise Ng in just 23 minutes.

Veteran Sharon Wee, in what is likely to be her final appearance for Malaysia in the championship, made it 2-0 when she beat Carman Lee 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 also in 23 minutes.

World No. 1 Nicol David then gave Liu Tsz-ling, the only member of the Hong Kong team that won the team silver medal in the recent Asian Games in Guangzhou, a lesson in squash. Nicol handed Tsz-ling an 11-3, 11-3, 11-1 thrashing in just 18 minutes.

Low Wee Wern was rested yesterday but she is slated to play in the match against Canada today.

Malaysia are expected to go all out to win all their group matches in order to avoid meeting defending champions Egypt, who are expected to top Group C, in the quarter-finals.
