It is important to aware of what you want to publish either online or offline. Unless you don't mind if other people are suing you for defamation. Defamation is one type of civil wrongful act under the law of tort. I won't go detail of its defamation.

There are two types of defamation - libel and slander. Some people could win millions when they sue for defamation. I used to write on Felda won a civil suit of RM200 mil. The recent one is when Perak MB Dr Zambry wins suit against PKR.

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir has won his suit against the PKR over a defamatory article published by Suara Keadilan.

Senior assistant registrar Noordura Mohamed Din on Monday allowed the application by Dr Zambry to enter judgment against all the defendants in his RM100mil suit.

In his statement of claim, Dr Zambry said Suara Keadilan had published and circulated an article titled “Zambry disyaki pengganas gagal masuk ke Amerika Syarikat” (Zambry denied entry to US on suspicion of being a terrorist) in its Dec 29, 2009 - Jan 5, 2010 edition which contained defamatory words.

Dr Zambry claimed the words meant that he was suspected of being a terrorist and was unfit to be the Mentri Besar of Perak.

The defendants in their statement of defence stated that an apology titled “Mohon Maaf Dr Zambry” and withdrawal of the said article was published in Suara Keadilan in its March 30 - April 5 edition.
