Top 25 Destination In The World | No.24 - Petra Jordan

Previously, in the end of June I blogged about Las Vegas Nevada, which is in 25th place in the Top 25 Destination In The World. So when I did some reading on Las Vegas, I am able to obtain some information about that glamorous city.

This time is number 24 which goes to Petra, Jordan. Jordan is the country with the area of 89,342 sq. km with its capital Amman has the population of 2.5 million people. Petra is one of the tourist attraction in Jordan. So I was browsing around looking some pictures of Jordan. Yes, it really has some beautiful places to be visited.

#24. PETRA, JORDAN - Petra means "rock" in Greek. The historical city of Ma'an is famous for its rock cut architecture and water conduits system. The UNESCO World Heritage Site has recently been named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Historical places are among the things that should be proud by the citizens of particular country. If Malaysians are proud with places like state of Malacca which really has a lot of historical stuff, the historic Pasir Salak, Kota Tampan which might keep the history of hundreds years, for Jordanians, Petra is one of them.

Petra is the treasure of ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still-standing nowadays.

Behind Petra was a long journey of history since the settlement of an ancient people known as Nabateans to Roman period to early Christian period to Islamic and Crusaders period and to modern rediscovery. Thus, Islam was there once which means Petra must be greatly influence by Islam. Anyhow Jordan is a country with 92% are Sunni Muslim.
