Nation: Politics Among Undergraduates

The recent UPSI riot makes a top news for last few days and maybe for the next few months until the General Election. I am attracted with the article written by Mohd Rizal Abd Rahman. His article entitled "Kebebasan Politik; Apa Yang Sebenarnya Mahasiswa Cari?"

The big question came into my head is why this happened at the time students are damn busy preparing and sitting their final examination. Shall you wait until you complete your study in university and then you can be in politics for the rest of your life? It sounds good right?

I think Mohd Rizal got points in his article. The reason is simple - because as educated persons, university students should realize their involvement in politics at the wrong time will affect (in bad manners) their studies. Complete everything and then you can jump into it as deep as you want. What's the problem?

And there are a lot other channels in which you can voice up instead of rioting and got injured and then you started blaming everyone else instead blaming yourselves. One more thing, all the protest against AUKU 1971 - I am wondering whether those who rioting in UPSI had ever see, hold or exactly read the AUKU? All they know is that AUKU prohibits them from involving with political parties. Period.

Maybe one day all faculties need one subject that teaches students about AUKU in depth.
