It was the year 1994, if you remember, 800,000 people mostly the Tutsi minority of Rwanda were murdered by the Hulu ethnic majority, Kids were among the victims of this 1994 civil war. It was one of the darkest time in human history and humanitarian law.
Now after 20 years, civil wars still take place in the world and one of them is in Syria where Bashar al-Assad regime is killing what they call "the rebels" - the very misleading term used by the regime and by some irresponsible media. And again, women, old people and innocent children were and are among the victims of Syrian civil war.

SYRIA
Syria (Arabic: سوريا or سورية, Sūriyā or Sūrīyah), officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a country in Western Asia, bordering Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest.
Its capital Damascus is among the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in the world. A country of fertile plains, high mountains, and deserts, it is home to diverse ethnic and religious groups, including the majority Arab population which includes; Alawite, Druze, Sunni and Christian. Other ethnic groups include; Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds, Yezidi and Turks. Sunni Arabs make up the largest population group in Syria.

Why knowing this is matter to the whole world including Malaysia? Read this sentence in bold carefully and repeatedly:
"Sunni Arabs make up the largest population group in Syria". Yes there are our brothers and sisters. Their children are like nephews and nieces to us. They need us as their brothers and sisters. If we can do even the smallest thing to help them, it is enough for them. A small aid is better than no help at all.
Last Saturday (31 May 2014) I attended the press conference for launching of
#SaveTheChildrenOfSyria campaign; the efforts by a few NGOs in Malaysia including ABIM, Global Peace Mission Malaysia, MAPIM, HALUAN, Green Project, and Palestine Reconstruction Team. The coalition to provide humanitarian aid to Syrian people is called
Malaysian Life Line for Syria (MLLFS).
The media release provides figures of casualties in Syria and concerns towards the children of Syria.
The media release is in Bahasa Melayu and you can read its full version
HERE. CEO of MLLFS, brother Syahrir Azfar hopes this effort will create awareness among Malaysian to provide any kind of assistance they can to help and

What can we do to help
#SaveTheChildrenOfSyria? The easiest and simplest way is with monetary contribution. You can contribute your aid to Syrian people and Syrian children via MLLFS Maybank account;
SALAM SURIAH RESOURCES (5645-5733-8496). Your monetary contribution will be used,
inter alia, to purchase food and essential materials to fulfill the needs of Syrian people.
We may not able to go there; to Syria and fight with them against the cruel regime of Bashar al-Assad. But this is what we can do. We can contribute our money to help them lessen their sufferings. Even the small contribution is meaningful to People of Syria.
LET'S CONTRIBUTE!
