First he borrowed the money to marry that women, then he stole for her to pay the loan, the he lodged the false police report. The lessons are that:

1. Don't borrow money to fund your marriage. Earn it on your own.

2. Don't steal from your wife. That's just stupid. You can ask for her or discuss the problem in a good way. That's how the husband - wife relationship should work.

3. Don't lodge a false police report. You just made yourselves even more stupid!

MUAR: A lorry driver, who lodged a false police report claiming that his wife’s jewellery was robbed, has been detained for stealing the goods.

Initial investigation showed the man had borrowed money from friends to marry the woman in February and decided to steal her jewellery to repay the loan.

The man was arrested shortly after he lodged a report with the police claiming that three men, two armed with machetes and one with a shotgun, had robbed him on Wednesday night.

Muar deputy police chief Supt Lee Choon Guan said the 22-year-old man from Taman Temiang Jaya here lodged the report at about 8.37pm.

“When we received the report, which said the robbers were armed and one had a shotgun, we rushed a team to his house and also set up road blocks at several places,” Supt Lee said yesterday.

“The man had claimed the three men had taken his wife’s jewellery valued at about RM8,000.”

Supt Lee said during investigation, police suspected something amiss as the man was inconsistent in describing the incident.

Police then decided to search the man’s car and found gold items hidden in the boot.

They then showed the items to the man’s wife when she returned from work at a fast food outlet in the town at about midnight.

He said the wife, 32, was shocked to see her jewellery and her husband.

Supt Lee said the husband had sold some of the items at a shop in town. Police recovered about RM2,000 from the man’s bag and had remanded him for seven days.
